New Delhi: The list of scathing remarks and observations made by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in a report on the modernisation and development of the Indira Gandhi International Airport by the Delhi International Airport Pvt Limited (DIAL) keeps growing bigger.
CAG’s latest observation is the way the original major development plan was flouted and the ground floor area was increased even though it was not in the original agreement.
The CAG, in the report, has noted that there was an operation management development agreement between the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and DIAL, in which the latter was to modernise, construct and develop the new airport in Delhi on a plot of land admeasuring 4,70,179 square metres. However, when the airport was finally ready, it turned out that it was built on an area admeasuring 5,53,887 square metres.
