Flight delays continue to haunt Mumbai airport

Mumbai: Flight delays continue to haunt Mumbai airport. Data released by Mumbai International Airport Private Limited (MIAL) for the month of May, shows that more than 250 flights were delayed once in five times they departed or arrived in the city.
According to the data, Air India (AI) flights and jet airways were delayed most. The data, which includes arrivals and departures, shows a total of 262 flights departed or arrived late. More delays were reported among flights arriving into the airport, compared to those departing from the city.
According to MIAL, 158 arriving flights were delayed more than 20 percent of the time they arrived in Mumbai. Of these 42 were AI flights, and 52 were Jet airways flights. Kingfisher, GoAir and Spice Jet had 14 delays each. Around 104 departing flights were delayed too. Thirty-eight of Jet airways departures were delayed, followed by AI's 27.
