'Intruder' boy stays undetected at A'bad airport for 8 hrs

Ahmedabad: In a major lapse in security at the Ahmedabad international airport, a 13-year-old boy spent more than eight hours in the ‘Operational Area’ of the aerodrome before he was detected by the security personnel.
The boy was first spotted on CCTV camera after which a patrolling party found him and handed him over to the Sardarnagar police at around 5 in the morning on Tuesday. (The ‘operational area’ is that part of the airport ground where aircraft can move or are stationed. It is strictly out-of-bounds for people not authorized to go there.)
Sources said that the boy had entered the operational area after climbing a tree just outside the boundary wall at the old terminus to see aircraft from up close. Police inspector of Sardarnagar police station, BS Solanki, said that the boy is a minor and, so far, no complaint has been registered against him.
