Madurai airport grounded

Madurai: An international connectivity from Madurai means a lot for the public of the southern districts in general and the industry in particular.
Probably, Madurai is the only city in the country with as much potential for international trade and tourism that has been deprived of international air connectivity, according to industrialists in Madurai. "Madurai airport possesses a high-tech integrated world class terminal building built at a cost of Rs 130 crore. The runway was extended to 7500 feet to facilitate introduction of international flights.
