New, improved Bangalore coming up near BIA

Mumbai/Mangalore: If all goes according to plan, Devanahalli is all set to emerge as a mega multi-sectoral industrial hub of IT, aerospace, electronic hardware and banking in the next few years. The state government is mulling over incorporating an exclusive Metro network for the Devanahalli industrial hub keeping the commuting needs of the region in mind.
Speaking to DNA, principal secretary of Commerce and Industries department, MN Vidyashankar said, “Many companies and industries are coming up 14 km away from Bangalore International Airport. There is a need to connect BIA and the business hubs. The Metro will be developed under the PPP model. The state and central government will also have an interest in the project. There is also a need to connect the city and this business hub which is 44 km away from the city.”
Meanwhile, a BMRCL official said that they were yet to get a formal correspondence from the state government on the issue. “The project is in inception stage. Once the state government asks us to do the feasibility study and other reports we will act as per their requirement. Till then nothing can be said,” the official said.
