Bangalore: In an attempt to ensure the safety of passengers during the rainy season, pilots are undergoing ground training as mandated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Airline operators have been instructed to provide ground school training to all their pilots irrespective of whether they have flown during previous monsoon or not and ensure that they get acclimatised to operating adverse weather conditions and on wet and contaminated runway conditions.
National carrier, Air India despite the on-going strike, has already commenced the training capsule. An Air India spokesperson said a majority of its pilots have already undergone the training as mandated by the DGCA at the Central Training Establishment at Hyderabad.
