Mumbai: After seeing their kin struggling to break any ice with the Air India management for over 53 days now, parents and relatives of the striking pilots on Thursday met the airline’s chairman and managing director (CMD) Rohit Nandan, but to no avail.
Apart from seeking Nandan to take back the sacked pilots, the concerned parents called for a solution to the pilots’ demands. However, they reportedly returned empty-handed as Nandan refused to budge, and chose to toe civil aviation minister Ajit Singh’s line of argument, said pilots. “It’s really sad that the management is so adamant and does not want to work out a solution to the actual problem,” said the wife of one of the pilots who met Nandan.
According to Indian Pilots Guild (IPG) spokesperson Tauseef Mukadam, the pilots’ parents and close relatives landed at Nandan’s office, but only six of them were allowed to meet him.
