With two unused aircraft, it is 'training turbulence' at MPFC

Indore: With two of its nine aircraft lying unused, thanks to the bureaucratic apathy, the Madhya Pradesh Flying Club (MPFC) is having tough time imparting training to the students while its charter services too have wsuffered. The unused aircraft include a trainer Hansa and a multi-engine six-seater Baron G 58. Hansa was given to the club by Directorate General Civil Aviation (DGCA) in 1999 but it was never used as the necessary paperwork that need to be carried out to make it operational was never completed.
The aircraft was later disassembled and its engine used as stand by in other sorties. The other aircraft Baron G 58 was obtained by the club two years ago on lease from Aero Club of India. To get trained on this craft, the students have to clear a written examination. However, for last two years, no examination paper has been set by the central authorities. As such the aircraft is not serving its training purpose.
Speaking about non-utilisation of aircraft, MPFC secretary Milind Mahajan admitted that the sorry state of affairs was to due to red tapism prevalent in the bureaucracy.
