New Delhi/Mumbai: The crippling 58-day strike by Air India pilots, which nearly brought the state-run carrier to its knees and triggered travel chaos in the ultra-busy India-Gulf routes, has come to an end.
"We, the pilots of Air India and members of Indian Pilots Guild, on the intervention of the Delhi High Court, have started the procedure to resume work," said a statement issued late on Tuesday after a meeting of the agitating pilots.
Earlier in the day, a lawyer for the IPG told the Delhi High Court that pilots were willing to negotiate and call off the strike immediately. Agency reports said the court directed the Air India management and the striking pilots to settle the issue amicably and asked the pilots to sign affidavits within the next 48 hours.
