New Delhi: Reacting to the hue and cry over the sudden removal of 'upright' Bharat Bhushan as director general of civil aviation (DGCA), aviation minister Ajit Singh on Wednesday denied the move was to protect interest of any airline. "There is no question of compromising on safety issue for any airline," he told TOI while reacting to the development for the first time. Singh reiterated his old stand that Kingfisher could lose its licence if it fails to maintain the skeletal schedule it has submitted to the DGCA.
The sudden removal of Bhushan on Tuesday and giving of additional charge of DGCA to a ministry joint secretary Prashant Sukul has raised serious questions on why a person who tried to clean up DGCA; unearthed serious malpractices and took action against the top officers was asked to leave in minutes.
