Delay in upgradation of Tirupati airport escalates cost

Hyderabad: Inordinate delay in upgrading of Tirupati domestic airport into an international one has pushed up the cost by at least Rs 50 crore, according to Andhra Pradesh Minister for Infrastructure and Investment Ganta Srinivasa Rao. The minister reviewed the status of ongoing development works related to Tirupati airport here today. The state government sanctioned Rs 100 crore for the airport development and released Rs 30 crore so far. "Due to delay in executing the works, the estimated cost is likely to go up to Rs 150 crore. The additional amount will be sanctioned by the state government," the minister later informed in a press release.
