Film producer detained at city airport, sent to Mumbai

Ahmedabad: Film producer Prakash Chandani, who was wanted by the Mumbai Crime Branch for his alleged involvement in betting during Indian Premiere League, was caught at the Ahmedabad international airport on Thursday.
The Mumbai Crime Branch had served lookout notices on Chandani in domestic and international airports and was wanted by the police under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
“The immigration department got a tip-off that Chandani was coming to Ahmedabad on an Emirates flight from Dubai. Based on this, they caught him and handed him to us. We have made a note of his detainment and handed over his custody to the Mumbai Crime Branch,” said Inspector V S Sarvaiya.
“I came to meet an advocate in Ahmedabad,” said Chandani to mediapersons. When asked about the case, he claimed his wife had invested in film Gali Gali Chor Hai, where reportedly there was some dispute between the producers and other investors.
