Gold worth Rs 26L seized from flier

Chennai: Air customs sleuths foiled an attempt to smuggle gold into the country and seized 898 grams of gold worth Rs 26.70 lakh from a passenger who landed in Chennai from Colombo on Saturday.
H M Mohamed Ashraff, who arrived by Jet Airways Flight 9W 253, had concealed three gold bars and seven gold strips in the bottom of his bags.
