HC scraps 15-yr domicile rule for Air India staffers

Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Tuesday set aside the 15-year domicile eligibility criteria imposed by the City and Industrial Development Corporation Cidco on Air India (AI) staffers for a housing enclave in Nerul, Navi Mumbai.
The judges said it was "arbitrary" for Cidco to insist on 15-year domicile when AI had submitted that its staffers can be transferred anywhere in the country.
A division bench of Justice Dhananjay Chandrachud and Justice Ramesh Dhanuka were hearing a petition filed by AI employees challenging the eligibility criteria imposed by CIDCO under a 2008 amended regulation of the New Bombay Disposal of Lands Regulation.
