Bangalore: Members of the aerospace industry and aviation enthusiasts have disapproved of the proposal to shift Aero India out of Bangalore.
Many from the industry criticised the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) authorities’ demand that Aero India be shifted elsewhere as it has to close its runway during the aero show, leading to a huge loss.
Julian D’Soza, associate vice-president, Jupiter Aviation Services Private Limited, said Aero India has been an integral part of Bangalore for the last 15 years and should not be shifted anywhere from Air Force Station, Yelahanka.
Meanwhile, sources in the BIA said the airport authorities did not recommend to the defence ministry to move Aero India. Sources said the civil aviation ministry had sought the airport authorities’ views on closing the runway and the authorities had merely responded to it.
