'Navi Mumbai international airport project to be put on fast track'

Mumbai: The Centre will take all necessary steps to expedite the construction of the Navi Mumbai international airport. Union civil aviation minister Ajit Singh gave this assurance to chief minister Prithviraj Chavan when they met in New Delhi on Monday.
Singh informed Chavan that the cabinet committee on infrastructure will soon meet the state-appointed high-powered committee and they will discuss the legal aspects including the bid document, contractual liabilities, infrastructural and environmental issues. The officials said the meeting is expected to take place before August 15, while the actual bidding process may be done by March 2013.
