Oommen Chandy misled House, says Opposition

Thiruvananthapuram: The Opposition has alleged that chief minister Oommen Chandy misled the assembly on Thursday as regards the extent of the land notified as industrial area by the previous LDF government for the Aranmula airport.
The issue was raised by Mullakara Ratnakaran, CPI, through a point of order. The chief minister had claimed a day earlier that the government had denotified 2,000 acres out of the 2,500 acres notified by the previous LDF government for the airport.
Ratnakaran said the fact was that the LDF government had notified only 500 acres for the airport. The argument that it had given permission to reclaim paddyfields for the airport was also “false.
