Threat to suspend flight operation over at Patna, for now

Patna: The threat of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to suspend the operation of big aircrafts at the Jayaprakash Narayan Airport is over, at least for now, after a meeting between officials of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Union ministry of environment and forest here last week.
The officials agreed to reduce the approach funnel from the present 150 metres to 75 metres and immediately prune the trees at the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park by nine metres. Over 100 trees have been marked for immediate pruning after a fresh survey carried out at the park. The high-rise trees are a major problem for pilots in approaching the funnel, forcing them to apply sudden break to land the aircrafts with a threat to the passengers.
