Air India's B747-400 under utilized

The average daily utilization of Boeing B777 and A320 aircraft by Air India are comparable to the average utilization of aircraft by the major developed countries. However, the utilization of B747-400 aircraft is being kept low due to its high operating cost. Air India also uses this fleet for extra section, VVIP operations.
This information was given by the Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Ajit Singh in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
