Nagpur: The district collectorate has begun disbursal of compensation to oustees from Jaitala-Bhamti villages whose over 133 hectares of land is being taken over for Mihan project. They have been offered a price of Rs1.5 crore per hectare which is said to be the highest ever rate offered for land acquisition by the state government.
Orders have been issued for providing 80% advance compensation to those who have agreed to the offer and joint measurement of their land has been done. However, Congress corporator Praful Gudadhe, who is leading an agitation against the acquisition, claimed that almost 90% of residents from his village Jaitala have refrained from accepting money.
