Kolkata: An elderly couple on way to Bangalore to meet their dengue-afflicted daughter-in-law and granddaughter spent several anxious hours in the city after their flight tickets were mysteriously cancelled. While the airline insisted the passengers themselves cancelled the tickets, the latter dismissed it outright.
It was on Monday evening that Raiganj residents Chitra and Sumit Chakraborty (both 58 years) received a call from Bangalore. Their bio-technologist son Sourit Chakraborty told them that his wife Indrita and nine-month-old daughter Sruti had been admitted to Manipal hospital with dengue.
They bought a train ticket to Kolkata on Tuesday and asked a relative in Kolkata to purchase flight tickets to Bangalore. The relative bought the tickets for IndiGo's 2.10pm flight on Wednesday from a travel agency near the airport.
