New Mumbai Terminal not before 2017

Mumbai: The new X-shaped integrated Mumbai airport terminal is expected to handle 40 million passengers in the next two to three years, but may not be a long-term solution to the ever-increasing passenger traffic at Mumbai airport . Work on the solution, a new airport at Navi Mumbai, is still far from getting started.
When it was first proposed, the deadline for its completion was 2014. However, even halfway into 2012, many permissions are still pending. Industry observers estimate it will be another four to five years before the first phase of Navi Mumbai airport opens for operations . The airport is likely to handle 50-60 million passengers per year at full capacity.
