Ajit Singh directs Air India to implement DGCA guidelines

New Delhi: Ajit Singh, minister of civil aviation, has directed Air India to immediately implement the guidelines of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on flight duty time limitations (FDTL) for its pilots and crew members.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, “The direction to Air India to follow the DGCA guidelines on FDTL will lead to optimum utilisation of its pilots and crew members. It will reduce the requirements of pilots and cabin crew for a given number of aircraft."
The comparative analysis of FTDL with DGCA norms found that except for one parameter out of six FDTL parameters which is “Rest Period”, all other parameters followed by Air India for its pilots and crew members are on the lower side. The average utilisation of pilots was limited.
