DGCA studying Indigo's proposal to hike ancillary revenues

According to the government sources it is known that DGCA is looking at a proposal from airlines to hike ancillary revenues. At present, only some services like food are chargeable, reports Sunanda Jayaseelan of CNBC-TV18.
Currently, airlines are only allowed to charge for certain services like food but for any other service to become chargeable it needs a go ahead from the DGCA. Airlines have tried all means to increase their revenues given the turbulence that they are facing from last year.
Indigo is the first airline which has proposed to the DGCA that it would like to start charging passengers for seat preferences, where a customer will pay extra for desired seat, thereby boosting the ancillary revenues.
