Chandigarh: The new terminal building of the Chandigarh airport might have failed to fetch any international flights for the local airport but the state of the art building sprawling over 12,500 square meter area is now connecting the city beautiful to almost all the major cities of the country.
Till March this year, there were only 12 domestic flights operating from the local airport but with a private airline, Indigo, launching its two Mumbai-Chandigarh flights daily connecting with Ahmedabad and Goa, the number of regular flights from Chandigarh has increased to 22. Recently, another private low cost airline Spicejet launched flights in a 78-seater aircraft between Chandigarh-Delhi and Chandigarh-Srinagar. Another regional private airline, Air Mantra of Religare Aviation has also launched its 18-seater aircraft on the Chandigarh-Amritsar and Chandigarh-Jammu routes.
