Indian-Canadian held trying to smuggle heroin

 A 22 year Indian-Canadian was recently held trying to smuggle heroin out of the country. Sarabjit Singh, a Canadian of Indian origin, was arrested at the Sri Guru Ram Das International Airport, Amritsar, on Tuesday night while he attempted to smuggle 2.9kg heroin which is worth 15 crore in the international market.
Sarabjit had concealed the said drug in a cavity inside his bag, but the same got detected during an X-ray scan at the airport. A resident of Ghuna Chaur village in Nawanshahr district, he was contacted by drug dealers based in Canada and lured into smuggling, probably on the promise of a hefty compensation, informed P K Tikku, Assistant commissioner, customs.
