Mumbai: From October, Mumbaikars planning a trip to Bhutan can take a direct flight to the land-locked nation.
At present, tourists from city must either go to Delhi, Kolkata, Bagdogra, Gaya or Guwahati airport to catch a Druk Air flight to Bhutan’s only airport Paro. This is not only time-consuming, but also costly.
“Till recently, the airline was seeking permission from various government agencies in India and the Mumbai airport operator to start services from the city,” said reliable source. Though permission was granted to start direct flight services from September, it was delayed by a month due to administrative problems.
