NEC to improve air connectivity in northeast

Shillong: Since the 10th Plan period, the North Eastern Council (NEC) has taken an initiative to improve air connectivity in the northeastern region.
"To understand the issues and problems of improvement of air connectivity in the region, NEC has initiated a study at an estimated cost of Rs 1.87 crore through the Airports Authority of India (AAI) under the guidance of the ministry of civil aviation and the report is expected in the next six months," an official statement said.
"The report will address the issue of linking of the remote areas through helicopters and also major townships by small aircrafts," the statement specified.
