Air India headquarters to shift to Delhi

Air India headquarters, which has been housed in the iconic Air India building at Nariman Point, Mumbai, will now have a new address. It will shift to not so well-known and much smaller place in its registered office, Airlines House in Delhi, sometime next year, to cut down on travel costs of employees moving frequently between the two cities.
The move is to monetise Air India’s assets in India and abroad, beginning with leasing out most of the 23-storey Nariman Point building.
According to a senior ministry official, who declined to be named, “There is no point having two headquarters. More work takes place from Delhi now, and it is only going to increase as time passes. Air India has to be in touch with the government more often now than before.”
The shifting process will take some time. The basic idea is to optimally utilise our resources and manpower to bring more operational efficiency, the officer added.
