Mumbai: Unable to find a home for its Boeing 777-200LRs after it invited bids at least four times for the aircraft, state-owned carrier Air India, on Friday, said that it would be putting five of those aircraft up for sale now.
Air India chairman and managing director Rohit Nandan had told ET that the airline was contemplating such a move as other airlines do not show interest in leasing the aircraft. The airline has elicited little response due to its configuration that offers less seats.
"With the B-777s, we have many options. We can sell them or reconfigure them. We are also seeking Boeing's help in the process," Nandan told ET.
