New Delhi: Unhappy with the reply given by Kingfisher Airlines to its show cause notice, the director general of civil aviation (DGCA) on Saturday suspended its licence till further notice. It now means, the airline will have to satisfy the aviation regulator of its airworthiness, safety standards and employee salaries before getting the suspension revoked.
The permit has been suspended with effect from October 20 till such time the Kingfisher Airlines submits a concrete and reliable revival plan ensuring safe, reliable, efficient and sustainable Scheduled Air Transport Services to the satisfaction of DGCA, the civil aviation ministry said on Saturday.
Even though it was on the cards, the suspension of Kingfisher’s licence finally happened on Saturday, a day after the airline replied to DGCA’s show cause notice. The reply was nothing else but seeking more time to reply to the notice. “The DGCA decided to suspend the Airline’s (Kingfisher) permit after examining the airline’s reply received on October 19 to the show cause notice served on them by the DGCA dated October 5, which was not found satisfactory,” the civil aviation ministry said.
