Airport customs seize methaqualone valued at Rs 85.50 lakh

Mumbai: An Indian passenger has been arrested from Mumbai international airport for allegedly trying to smuggle out 5.7 kg of methaqualone valued at Rs 85.50 lakh to Malaysia, a customs official said today.
Acting on a tip off, the passenger identified as Monikandan Thangathurai was intercepted at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on Tuesday.
Upon checking his black coloured zipper strolley bag, the contraband of white crystalline drug weighing 5.7kg was found concealed meticulously, the official said.
