CM to meet aviation min for 2nd airport

Mumbai: To expedite the plan to make the Juhu airport the second for the city, chief minister Prithviraj Chavan is likely to meet Union civil aviation minister Ajit Singh in the third week of this month.
Currently, the Juhu airport handles helicopters and other light aircraft. With the city’s only airport two termini overloaded, developing of the Juhu airport will ensure movement of a part of air traffic to the new airport.
By easing congestion in the skies, it will prove beneficial to flyers by reducing flight delays. Sources said the meeting will revolve around several permissions required to get the project started and to chalk out the way ahead. Also, several groups which have voiced differences of opinion over the project are also likely to join in the meeting.
