Cochin airport to get 2 more airfield crash fire tenders

Kochi: Cochin International Airport Ltd will get two new airfield crash fire tenders. The addition of these fire tenders, made by Iveco Magirus of Germany — a FIAT group company — will increase the fleet size of the aircraft rescue and fire fighting department to seven.
Iveco Magirus crash fire tenders by have a very significant presence at European airports. These fire tenders are twin-engine vehicles capable of delivering 1080 HP engine power, almost two and half times more power than the existing such fire tenders at airports.
These vehicles can achieve speeds of 80 km in less than 25 seconds with a load of 12,000 litres of water, 1,500 litres of fire-fighting foam, and other fire fighting media. It can achieve a top speed of 130 km per hour with full load.
