Gold worth Rs 35 lakh seized at Mangalore airport

Mangalore: Abdul Khadir, 25, from Bhatkal made a futile attempt to smuggle 1.11 kg of gold ornaments and biscuits stuffed in his underwear at Mangalore International Airport on Wednesday. Just a few weeks ago, Sri Lankan national Mohammed Hashim was caught at Bengaluru International Airport while trying to smuggle 1.75 kg of gold hidden in his rectum.
Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) sleuths seized the gold worth Rs 35 lakh when he arrived by Air India Express IX-814 from Dubai at 6.15am.
