Mumbai: The concluding session yesterday of the CAPA India Aviation Summit 2012, held at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Mumbai, saw a panel of private equity funds, aircraft lessors and institutional and infrastructure investors discuss their perspectives on the opportunities they see in Indian aviation, their risk appetite in the sector, risk mitigation strategies, India’s attractiveness as a destination in relation to other markets, and the reforms that they would like to see for capital flows to support transformational growth. Discussing ‘Investing in Indian Aviation: Where Will The Funding Come From?’ were Suresh Goyal, CEO, SBI Macquarie Infrastructure Fund; Manikkan Sangameshwaram, President - Infrastructure, ICICI Venture; Hal Hayward, Managing Director (MD), Bravia Capital; and James Muldowney, Partner, Irelandia Aviation.
Talking about the factors affecting funding in the Indian aviation industry, Goyal said that investment returns should be risk-free, long-term capital needs stability of regime and regulations, and that investment opportunities in the aviation sector in India are scarce.
