Infrastructure status not favourable for full service carriers in India: Sudheer Raghavan

Mumbai: The growing Low-Cost Carriers (LCCs) segment has given a tough competition to the full service carriers in India. The expansion of LCCs has put increasing pressure on legacy carriers to lower their labour and other costs. Although the last six months were reasonably good for India's GDP, the aviation industry witnessed low returns and a shrinking market. Deepak Brara, Director Commercial, Air India, and Sudheer Raghavan, COO, Jet Airways, were panellists at the session on 'What's Next For Full Service Carriers? Issues, Challenges, Opportunities and an Action Plan' at the CAPA (Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation) India Aviation Summit 2012, held at The Taj Mahal Palace hotel in Mumbai yesterday. The session was moderated by Samyukth Sridharn, President and COO, Cleartrip.com. The panellists discussed the challenges faced in catering to long-haul destinations, dynamics of competitiveness, inflow of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI), etc.
