Pune: Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan on Friday announced that the state government was considering setting up an airport in every district of the state and said that land for the international airport at Chakan near Pune has been "finalized".
"The location of the Chakan airport was changed two or three times due to some technical and local issues. However, we have now finalized the land and are in the process of conducting surveys," he said.
Chavan was speaking at the concluding session of a day-long seminar organized by the state government at the Council Hall here on the platinum jubilee year of the state legislature.
"The government is developing two international airports - at Chakan and Navi Mumbai. Both projects were delayed due to land-related issues. The Navi Mumbai airport r'equires some additional land.
