Man held at IGI airport with party drug worth over Rs 43 lakh


A Delhi University student from Manipur has been arrested after he was caught allegedly smuggling more than 14 kgs of rave party drug worth over Rs 43 lakh at the IGI airport.
Acting on intelligence inputs, C Laltanpuia, 28, was nabbed yesterday from Terminal-3 of the airport when he was allegedly trying to smuggle the psychotropic substance, officials of Customs department said.
A total of 14.40 kgs of ephedrine tablets (weight including wrapper), a controlled substance under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, was seized, they said.
A kg of ephedrine costs about Rs three lakh in international market and according to this estimate the value of the seized ephedrine is Rs 43. 20 lakh, they said.
