AI flight from Kolkata delayed by five hours; flyers livid

At least 166 passengers on their way to Mumbai from Kolkata were inconvenienced after their Air India (AI) flight was delayed by more thanfive hours. The Kolkata-Mumbai flight AI773 was scheduled to depart at 7.55pm on Tuesday, but landed in Mumbai only at 3.10am on Wednesday. The passengers allege that no announcements were made about when the aircraft would finally depart and no officials answered their queries.
An AI spokesperson confirmed the delay, but said that timely announcements were made.
One of the aggrieved passengers, Darshana Thanawala said, “This was the worst flight I have ever been in. Earlier, I used to stand by the efficiency of our national carrier, but now I know why they are going through such a bad time.” The passengers said that the only announcement that was made was at around 7pm about the flight being delayed to 9.10pm. “Noairline official was present to explain the reason behind the delay either,” Thanawala added.
