Air Indi pilots come to colleagues’ aid

In a show of support, around 400 Air India pilots, who were reinducted after a 58-day strike, are now contributing to pay the salaries of 13 union leaders who were not allowed to rejoin by the airline management.
The pilots belonging to the Indian Pilots Guild (IPG) went on strike in May over a slew of demands. The national carrier, which is already facing debts of over Rs43,777 crore, suffered losses around Rs600crore because of the strike.
The strike was called off after the Delhi high court asked the Air India management to solve the issue at the earliest and take the employees back. The management in its reply said that pilots will be taken back on a case to case basis. Except for 13 office bearers of the IPG, all others were reinducted.
