Raipur: Decks have been cleared for the launch of air taxi services that would be connecting all the major cities of Chhattisgarh.
According to an official statement on Wednesday, the State Government granted conditional permission to the Chhattisgarh Aviation Academy and Durg-based SKB Infracon Pvt Ltd to launch air taxi services in Raipur, Bilaspur, Korba, Raigarh, Ambikapur, Jashpur and Jagdalpur in the first phase.
The Chhattisgarh Aviation Department in an order issued on December 5 this year, laid down the condition that the air taxi operator must have the 'Non Schedule Operating Permit' (NSOP) before launching the services in Chhattisgarh. Oher key conditions put down for operation of air taxis in the State are — The operator would have the aircraft base within Chhattisagrh and must comply with all the rules of the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The air taxi services could only be provided with the permission of the concerned District Collector. The concerned district administration would provide for the basic security arrangements for the operation of the service.
