Airports Authority of India wants new Ranchi Terminal operational before India-England ODI

Ranchi: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) is making every effort to open the new terminal at Ranchi airport before the January 19 international cricket match here. It is putting pressure on the army for a conditional work permit for construction of the approach road to the new terminal.
"The entire purpose of building a world-class terminal will be defected if it is opened after the ODI in January. We are trying our best to resolve the issue and get a working order from the army to construct the road," said airport director Raju Raghvendra Kumar. Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan is among prominent figures to attend the match. A 1km approach road is needed to be constructed to connect the new terminal with the existing building. The stretch of land on which the road will be built belongs to a local unit of the army, which is opposed to the construction of the road. This is delaying the inauguration of the terminal.
