Aviation watchdog nails trainer who faked record

On June 17, 2011, Captain Sudhir Tomar was in the cockpit of Jet Airways flight 9W 77 from Hong Kong to New Delhi. But his training log book has two entries for the same date that claim he underwent training at the Jet Airways Airbus 330 simulator training facility in Mumbai. When the government watchdog, the Civil Aviation Safety Advisory Council, investigated this incident, it found conclusive proof that Jet Airways training instructor Captain PP Singh had forged Captain Tomar’s record.
Captain Singh was one of the people who were taken off the roster for fudging Air India pilots’ training records last month. But despite the watchdog’s repeated appeals, the DGCA has not revoked Captain Singh’s licence.
On November 28, Mumbai Mirror had reported how flight training instructors, in connivance with top airline officials, fudge training data of pilots undergoing crucial flight simulator training.
