New Delhi: A parliamentary panel has taken the Civil Aviation Ministry to task for non-utilisation of funds allocated to state-run undertakings and regulatory or security bodies under it, terming the situation as "disturbing".
In its report tabled in Parliament today, the Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture also asked the Ministry to pursue with the Finance Ministry to allow the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to float tax-free bonds to raise funds for airport development.
"The Committee finds that except Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi which spent Rs 41 crore against the budgetary allocation of Rs 42 crore for the (11th) Plan period, all other organisations under the Ministry could not spend the allocated money fully. This is a disturbing scenario," the panel, headed by senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury, said.
