Mumbai: Last week, an Air India (AI) flight to Riyadh from Mumbai was delayed by 16 hours as the cockpit crew was unavailable. The passengers were informed about the delay at the eleventh hour, when they had already checked-in. The situation caused many a frayed nerves and passengers lost their cool. The problem, officials said was the shortage of crew.
The airline, sources said, is short-staffed, particularly when it comes to pilots.
