Dense fog hits air, rail travel


New Delhi: Dense fog hit the Capital for the third consecutive day on Tuesday affecting the flights and train movement. Flyers at Indira Gandhi International Airport and Railway passengers faced a harrowing time due to the dense fog that affected the schedules of over 40 flights.
Twenty-nine domestic and international had to be rescheduled and 10 cancelled.
On Monday, over 140 flights were disrupted due to dense fog. Wednesday might again see a foggy morning but a clear sky in the later part of the day.
The fog affected over a hundred trains with as many as 60 running late by four to 24 hours. The New Delhi-bound Patna Rajdhani is running late by 17 hours and the Patna-New Delhi Sampoorn Kranti Express by 24 hours .
For the citizens, it was a cold and foggy Christmas as the temperature dipped to a minimum of 7 degrees Celsius and the maximum hovered around 19 on Tuesday.
