Flying out is cheap, but return to cost a bomb

Mumbai: If you are a last-minute traveller wanting to usher in the New Year in Goa, you may still get lucky with a budget ticket. With most revellers having already left on their holiday, one-way fares to Goa and most other popular destinations in India have come crashing down on New Year's Eve. Getting a flight ticket to Goa may cost as little as Rs 4,600. It could, however, be a different story coming back with return fares ranging between Rs 11,000 and Rs 15,000.
According to travel portals and tour operators, a one-way ticket to Goa for December 31 costs anywhere between Rs 4,600-6,000. An air ticket to Kochi costs between Rs 8,000 and Rs 9,000. Mumbai-Jaipur, a hot sector during winter, is priced at Rs 6,500. The fare to Delhi too is Rs 7,000 with discounts of Rs 2,000 if the same airline is chosen for the return trip. Ticket fares to Kolkata range from Rs 9,000 to Rs 12,000.
