Govt rules out discontinuation of Boeing Dreamliner delivery

New Delhi: Ruling out discontinuation of further deliveries of Boeing-787 Dreamliners, the government on Wednesday said it was regularly reviewing operational issues concerning the new aircraft with Air India after one of these planes developed technical trouble.
"Since the induction of this aircraft is crucial for effective implementation of Air India's Turnaround Plan and Financial Restructuring Plan, the acquisition would continue as planned and technical issues would be resolved," Minister of State for Civil Aviation K C Venugopal said in reply to a question in Lok Sabha.
He said Air India has already taken up the technical snag issue with Boeing and "the government is reviewing the various operational issues of B-787s with Air India from time to time."
The snag in the first B-787 was reported in its power equipment liquid cooling system and the electrical power system and the plane was re-deployed for commercial services after satisfactory resolution of the technical trouble, he said.
