MIAL asked not to charge increased penal parking fee

New Delhi: Aviation tribunal has asked the Mumbai airport operator MIAL not to charge increased penal parking charges from private jets till the sectoral regulator AERA takes a final call on the issue.
The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority Appellate Tribunal (AERAAT) has asked MIAL to continue the old penal parking charges fixed by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) till AERA gives its nod over it.
The disputes between Mumbai International Airport and the Business Aircrafts Operators Association (BAOA) started after the former increased the penal parking charges fifty times higher than the usual hourly parking charges with effect from July 1, 2012.
Private jets have to clear the parking area within a stipulated time slot and beyond that they have to pay penalty.
